Adult & Teen Workshops for those who love the outdoors! Research has shown that children and adults alike who regularly engage in the arts are more likely to also be engaged in their community. Those who get outside are also more likely to lead healthier lives! Join us in the parks, get outside and get creative- all at once. Programs are geared towards teens and adults, and require little to no experience. Teens must be accompanied by an adult. Program prices vary and reflect material costs.

March 24th-Gourd-geous Gourd Birdhouses: Ages 14- adult. $10. Love birds? Give the gift of gourds! Select a dried gourd to cut and decorate while we discuss some of the finer points of nesting birds. Learn which kinds of birds you may find in your crafty creations! Bring your creativity! Please note: This program runs from 1-3pm. 

April 21st- Collage Art Cards: Ages 8-adult. $5. Reuse, recycle, create! Find inspiration on the pages of magazines and cut and clip your way to a finished piece of art. We’ll provide the materials, you bring the creativity! Each participant can walk away with 1-2 cardstock cards and envelopes ready to use! Bring your own magazines if you’d like. 

May 19th- The Parks Through A Pinhole: Ages 12-adult. S10. It wasn’t always so easy to snap a photo! Learn a basic technique to making an image on paper using a lidded coffee can and photo sensitive paper. We’ll take a stroll through wooded paths to find that perfect shot, then bring our ‘cameras’ back to see what develops. 

June 16th- Encaustic: It’s the Bee’s Knees!: Ages 14-adult. $20. Encaustic is a mixed media painting process that uses beeswax to create a piece of art work. Create layers, fmd natural objects around the park to include in your piece, and learn just why a honeybee’s wax is the perfect stuff for crafting. Learn a little about our friend the honeybee and how much work it takes to make the wax we’ll be using. 

September 8th- Jewels from Junk: Ages 14-adult. $10. If you can’t beat them, wear them i nstead! Get the scoop on invasives, know what to look for, how to combat them, and how they can be used to create something beautiful. Cast leaves and plant parts safely in resin to make jewelry components for necklaces and earrings. No experience with jewelry making necessary! Come learn and walk away with a way to combat those pesky plants! 

October 13th- Monoprintin’ Madness: Ages 12-adult. $10. Learn this easy printmaking techniques that creates one of a kind art! Draw inspiration from the woods as we gather materials to include in our masterpieces, learning about the flora and fauna of Antietam Lake Park. No experience necessary, come out and enjoy creating in the parks! 

November 10th- Print-A-Log: Ages 14-adult. $10. Learn to see the forest for the trees and investigate the flora around Antietam Lake Park. We’ll be looking at several interesting species of trees that call Pennsylvania home, why we need them, and how you can help. Then we’ll ink up a few slices of logs to make a beautiful,one of a kind, tree ring prints. Each participant can bring home their print to frame on their wall, equipped with a new found knowledge of our woody friends.
